First announcement

5th Heavy Ion Accelerator Symposium for Fundamental and Applied Research

18 – 20 September 2016

Canberra, Australia

The staff of the Department of Nuclear Physics at the Australian National University would like to invite you to join us for the 2016 Heavy Ion Accelerator Symposium in Canberra, Australia, from September 18 to 20.

The symposium will have two parallel workshops:
Low-Energy Reaction Dynamics
and
Nuclear Structure in the 21st century.

The "Low-Energy Reaction Dynamics" workshop will bring together experimentalists and theorists working on heavy-ion collisions around the barrier and on fission dynamics. The second workshop will focus on various aspects of nuclear structure physics. Plenty of time will be reserved for discussions.

The registration fee will be AUD$250 (currently about US$180). This will cover lunches (Sunday to Tuesday inclusive) and dinners (Sunday and Monday), which will be provided at the University conference location.

A limited amount of accommodation has been booked on the ANU campus. We would appreciate if you could let us know of your intention to participate to this workshop at your earliest convenience.

Please note these events in your diaries and register your preliminary interest in attending via email to the conference secretary

Questions about the scientific content of the meetings may be addressed to Cedric.Simenel@anu.edu.au (Low-energy reaction dynamics) or Tibor.Kibedi@anu.edu.au (Nuclear structure).

More information concerning invited speakers, the meeting websites, submission and registration deadlines, advisory and organising committee members, as well as meeting costs, will be sent by the end of February.

Kind Regards,

The HIAS 2016 Organising committee
