8th Heavy Ion Accelerator Symposium for a Stronger and More Resilient Nation

11 – 13 November 2024

Canberra, Australia

The Heavy Ion Accelerator Symposia (HIAS) series has been organised at the ANU since 2012, and we look forward to bringing you its 8th edition in 2024. It is hosted by the Department of Nuclear Physics and Accelerator Applications at the Research School of Physics together with the Heavy Ion Accelerators (HIA) project funded through the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).

Scientific program:

The event will bring together researchers working with accelerated ion beams and related state-of-the-art instrumentation, as well as industry partners and policy makers. The Symposium will provide a forum to build cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary links and reflect on the ways our research community can support the national priorities.

Symposium topics will cover:

  • Education and workforce
  • Technologies for space
  • Climate and environmental resilience
  • Quantum and advanced materials manufacturing
