Conference details

HIAS 2025 will be held from 7 - 12 September 2025 by the Department of Nuclear Physics at The Australian National University, Canberra.
The HIAS 2025 scientific program will focus on the theme of ‘Nuclear Physics and its Applications’, with subthemes of:
- Nuclear structure
- Nuclear reactions
- Accelerator mass spectrometry
- Nuclear science and society

Travelling to Australia
All travellers(except Australian and New Zealand citizens) must have a valid visa before arriving in Australia.
Many participants will be passport holders from countries that qualify for an e-Visitor (subclass 651) or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA, subclass 601), including Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States and some others. Please see the full list of eligible countries and terms and conditions on the Australian Government Department of Home Affaires website. The applications for e-Visitor and ETA must be made online and are usually processed very quickly. However you must obtain your VISA or ETA before leaving your home country.
Once you have registered and paid registration fees, please contact the conference secretary to obtain an acknowledgement letter that you can use with your visa application. We are unable to support delegates who have not completed registration and payment first.
Venue

The venue for HIAS 2025 will be the Physics building (Building 160) an approximately 5 minute walk from the Department of Nuclear Physics, Building 57, Garran Road, The Australian National University.
The Physics building is located at 160 Mills Road on the south-west corner of the University.
The Nuclear Physics building is also located in the south-west corner of the University.
The Department of Nuclear Physics (map) building will be the venue for some evening meals/activities.
Walking and cycle paths provide good access to the city centre, Lake Burley Griffin, the Australian National Botanic Gardens and the National Museum of Australia, which are all within 2 kilometers of the department.

Please consider ANU Apartments as your preferred accommodation provider. Apartments are located in a short walking distance from the symposium venue and offer excellent rates ($110 for one bedroom). One, two and three bedroom apartments are available to the HIAS attendees. Please contact reservations.uas@anu.edu.au to make a booking. Places are limited.
